For the first time in the company’s history it failed to make a profit last year. They lost ¥43 Billion (Around £328.7m) a far cry from last years ¥77.6 Billion which itself was down on the previous year by 66.1%. Also revealed was the fact that the 3DS has sold 13.53 Million units in the past 12 months with the total sales of the 3DS reaching 17.13 Million units.
On the software side of things Super Mario 3D Land is the 3DS’s biggest hit with over 5.84 Million copies since its launch with Mario Kart 7 taking second place with 5.24 million copies sold and The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D sold 2.61 Million copies!
Expect more sales for the 3DS later in the year with New Super Mario Bros. 2 coming out in the Autumn and Nintendo will need to have a strong launch line-up for the Wii U this year inorder to avoid the failings of the 3DS launch.
