Official Nintendo Magazine have received confirmation that the eStore pricing for New Super Mario Bros 2 on 3DS will be £39.99.
That works out at £10 more expensive than most retail stores and online sites are asking for the game, despite the online version having no physical media or distribution costs.
Gamestation, for instance, has the game listed for pre-order at £29.99 online and the current price in store looks to be the same. This may be to do with the competition laws which prevent online sales of retail games to go below the retail price. Sony has similar issues with their online pricing, but it certainly needs to be re-examined if the future is really going online only.
