Warner Bros and DC are bringing LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes to Wii U on 24th May with some unique new features.

The controller gives the player a handy map of Gotham City, as well as allowing for 2 players to play co-op using both the controller and the screen.  It will also allow for faster choosing of different characters in the game.

MCV reports that Microsoft’s new console requires an internet connection to work but that it doesn’t have to be ‘always-on’ as previous rumours have stated.

The console needs to be registered and connect to the internet at certain points and Microsoft are allowing developers to make use of Cloud computations for some of the more complicated work, taking the pressure off the hardware to some extent.  This is optional, but if developers use these features then the game would need the player to be connected in order to play.

In addition, the supplied Kinect 2.0 device is required to be connected to the Xbox One at all times.

Here it is, Microsoft’s new next generation console, the Xbox One. The name and the console itself were revealed today through livestream from their Redmond Campus.

The console, now officially known as Xbox One, has 8GB RAM, matching the Playstation 4′s memory, an 8 core x86 CPU, Blu-ray drive, USB 3.0 and comes with a 500GB Hard Drive as standard.

There are still no specs for the graphics processor Microsoft are using in the console, but we’re expecting them to be a rough match for Sony’s new console.

Microsoft mentioned The Cloud plenty of times throughout the event, it’s certainly going to be an important part of the new console and of Xbox Live.

Kinect makes a return with new Kinect 2.0 hardware that reports to be far better at understanding both voice and body movements and it will come shipped with every console, so expect most games to use it in some form.

The Xbox One controller has been designed for all the family with new ergonomic changes that make gaming more comfortable and programmable feedback on the triggers.  Lastly, Smartglass comepletes the trilogy of control methods.

Much was made of the TV aspect of Xbox One, though Microsoft have since confirmed that this will not be available at launch outside of the US and will require a separate piece of hardware.

EA’s Andrew Wilson was on hand to explain the basics of the Microsoft/EA partnership which results in exclusive content for FIFA’s Ultimate Team on Xbox One.

Xbox One launches worldwide later this year.

Those cheeky scamps at Sony have released a trailer partially revealing the Playstation 4.

In reality, there’s very little of the console to be seen, other than a big blurry black blob.  At least we know the colour (as if this was in doubt).

The real message?  It’s an advert to spread the word about Sony’s big E3 reveal on June 10th at 6pm PDT, where you’ll finally get to see the PS4 in all its glory.

Polyphony Digital and SCEE have announced a Holiday 2013 release for Gran Turismo 6 with a demo appearing in July.

Traditionally, the Gran Turismo series have taken years to appear after their announcement, so GT6 is a bit of a departure from the norm, arrive so soon after the previous game.

What fans will be hoping for is a brand new front end and revamped car modelling, two of the issues which prevented the previous game from standing on the same pedestal as its predecessors.  Polyphony have promised a brand new rendering engine, which should answer the latter issue and we’re hoping that the menu and organisation of races is also improved in the new version.

Gran Turismo 6 will boast 1200 cars and 33 courses, including Silverstone, as well as new cars and tracks via monthly DLC packs in a similar way to Forza.  We expect to see a season pass for this content, which should save some those wanting to own all the packs some money.

“It is amazing to think that it is 15 years since we first released Gran Turismo,” explained Kazunori Yamauchi, during the announcement at Silverstone Circuit. “Things have changed a lot since then and now Gran Turismo 6 is a further evolution of my dream. We’re pleased to deliver GT6 to PlayStation 3 as we have a very loyal community on that platform. However, we have refactored the game to make it very flexible and expandable, with a view to making many future developments. I am very pleased with everything about the new game and the new additions, but the launch will be only the beginning for GT6. The game will continue to develop throughout its life. I already have many ideas for things I want to achieve in the next 15 years of Gran Turismo!”
